Health Canada has advised the company Nutrition First, located in Nova Scotia, to stop selling the product “West Pharm Therma Lean Fat Burner Energizer” (that’s a mouthful) as it contains both ephedrine and caffeine, which could cause serious adverse effects and even death when combined.

Border officials have also been notified no to allow the import of the product into the country.

Health Canada says people with heart conditions, high blood pressure and diabetes would be most at risk from using the product.

Ephedrine combined with caffeine can cause dizziness, tremors, headaches, an irregular heartbeat, seizures, psychosis, heart attacks and stroke.
