The FTC has stopped sales of acai berry supplements and colon cleaners by Central Coast Nutraceuticals Inc in August.

According to the FTC, Central Coast collected almost $30 million last year through a internet sales scheme, with almost 1 million victims. Under this temporary injuctions, Central Coast’s asses were frozen and a received was appointed over all four of Central Coast’s affilicated companies.

Central Coast is accused of using deceptive advertising and billing practices, and claiming that the acai berry supplements would lead to rapid weight loss and the colon cleaner would help prevent colon cancer. Some advertisements claimed that the product was endorsed by Oprah Winfrey and Rachael Ray.
